Hero Harry

I am currently reading the book Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling. This novel is an engrossing tale about a young wizard who is destined to protect the wellfare of the wizarding world by defeating, the demonic and sinister, Lord Voldemort. Harry is set with the arduous task of locating and destroying Horcruxes, which are portions of Lord Voldemorts soul, ripped from his body and stored in valuable objects, to fuel his relentless pursuit of immortality. Harry is most definatly a heroic figure, and has the instinct to put others before himself, sometimes even putting himself in dire situations. Harry is also an incredibly vulnerable character due to his need to put others lives before himself, and before reason. He has been known to take unmeasuable risks, and see things that most others overlook. Harry is an ideal protaganist for he is benevolent, daring, and does right against all odds. There are few "Harry Potter's" in the real world today and I believe those few who possess Harry's rare and esteemed traits are the backbone and heart of our society.
